Kearns

Ray Mounteer, born on September 10, 1952, in Cottonwood Hospital, departed this life on June 16, 2025, in Sandy, leaving behind a legacy of love, craftsmanship, and unwavering faith. He was a gifted mechanic, whose hands could breathe new life into vehicles, transforming them from mere machines into cherished companions on the journey of life. His dedication to his craft was not merely a profession but a reflection of his character — one that embodied diligence and precision.

Ray was a man of profound faith, staunchly devoted to the teachings of the LDS church. His spirituality was woven into the very fabric of his being, guiding his actions and interactions with others. He approached life with an open heart and an affable spirit, never meeting a stranger, always willing to extend kindness to those he encountered. His genuine nature and love for humanity were felt by all who crossed his path.

Family was the cornerstone of Ray's existence. He shared a deep bond with his beloved wife, Shawna Mounteer, standing together as partners in the beautiful tapestry of family life. He was the proud father of Jeffery Evans and his wife, Angie, as well as Daniel Mounteer and his fiance, Natasha. Ray’s heart swelled with affection for his daughters, Rebecca Barrera, and her husband, Brandon. Shandee Mounteer and her fiance, Bailey. He was especially cherished as a grandfather to nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, whose laughter and joy enriched his life immeasurably.

Beyond his love for family, Ray relished the opportunity to immerse himself in the great outdoors. Hunting and fishing were not mere pastimes but gateways to nature’s beauty, providing moments of tranquility and reflection that he held dear. This passion for the natural world was emblematic of his desire to connect with something bigger than himself, feeding both his spirit and his love for adventure.

Ray is survived by his beloved family, including his brother, Lindsey Mounteer, who will carry forward the family’s legacy and cherished memories. He is preceded in death by his devoted parents, Ervin Francis Mounteer and Emma Rebecca Mounteer, as well as his brothers, Kenneth and Jim Mounteer, who have awaited him in the embrace of eternity.

As we remember Ray Mounteer, let us celebrate a life well-lived, characterized by compassion, familial devotion, and a relentless love for all. His spirit will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him, as we carry forth the memories and values he instilled in our hearts.
