Rebecca Maria Aguayo

Rebecca Maria Aguayo passed away peacefully on December 13, 2014. She was born in Dinkyville, Bingham Canyon, Utah to Jesus Aguayo and Maria Arellano Aguayo on August 20, 1934.

Always a proud academic and scholar she graduated from Bingham High with a 4.0. She received her BSN from St. Benedict's School of Nursing and began a career that lasted her lifetime. She earned an MSN from the University of Utah and an M.Ed from Berkley. She proudly served in the U.S. Air Force attaining the rank of Major. Rebecca cared for patients at (Old) St. Marks, & Pioneer hospitals. She taught nursing at Holy Cross School of Nursing, SLCC, and Westminster College as the Director of Nursing.

Rebecca is survived by her siblings, Edward, Esperanza, and Dolores (married to Walt Vande Veegaete) along with 7 Nephews and Nieces and 16 Great Nephews and Nieces, who love and miss her greatly. Rebecca is preceded in death by her parents and three siblings, Gavino, Salvador, Zenaida.

The family would like to thank the staff of Utah Veterans Hospital and the Central Utah Veterans Home for the care and concern they provided.

A viewing will be held at Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 S 2300 E, Thursday December 18, 6:00-8:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Martin De Porres Church, 4914 South 2200 W., December 19, at 9:00 am. Interment at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
