Rebecca Bringhurst Peterson

Jul 18, 1930 — Oct 4, 2024

Salt Lake City

Beckie, age 94, passed away peacefully at home in Salt Lake City, Utah on October 4, 2024.  Beckie was born July 18, 1930, in Charleston, West Virginia to Oscar and Flora Patton.  She was the 5th of 8 children.

She married in September 1947 and was later sealed to her husband, June R. Bringhurst.  June passed away in August 1973.  Several years later, she married Harold Peterson in October 1979.  Harold passed away in February 2013.

Serving others was a pattern Beckie followed throughout her life.  She was an example of one who lived the two great commandments: that is to love God and to love her fellow man. Beckie was known for her generosity, unselfish quiet service, being a gracious host and excellent cook, and her fun personality. No one ever left Beckie's house hungry. She always put others above herself.  She was a true disciple of Jesus Christ and a great example to all who knew her.

Beckie loved her family, and each grandchild knew that they were her favorite.  Beckie is survived by her children: Sandra Fagergren (Paul), Debra Paull (Tim Kidder), Trent Bringhurst (Annette), and Tamara Houghton (Mike), Robert Peterson (Linda), Lee Peterson (Barbara), Lynn Peterson (Cindy), Gail Fielding, sister LaReal Eyring, 34 Grandchildren, 99 Great-Grandchildren, and 3 Great-Great-Grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husbands, brothers Don, Lowell, and Nelson and  sisters Jean, Sue and Eleanor.

The family wishes to thank Polu TuaKoi for her tender care towards Beckie at the end of life and for the individual care provided by Symbii Home Care and Hospice.
