Reed Darrell Berntson passed away peacefully December 22, 2008, from diabetes complications. He was born March 9, 1931 in Logan, UT, the son of Ariel J. Berntson and Elva Johnson. Raised in Logan he attended Adams Elementary, Logan Jr. and Sr. High Schools. He was active in scouting earning an Eagle Scout award. He served an LDS mission in London and surrounding cities. Resumed schooling at Utah State and earned a B.S. Degree in Economics.
Reed married Valena Meyrick in 1956, in the Logan Temple. He served in many church positions including Elder's Quorum President, Bishopric Counselor, Scouting Assistant, and many others.
He was a salesman for various companies including Brown Distributing, and recently employed by Crawford Doors in advertising. He loved golf, fishing, traveling, family outings, and being with friends.
He is survived by his wife; and daughters, Janis McClellan (West Jordan), Jayne Springman (So. Jordan); 7 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Shirley Iverson (Mesquite, NV). Preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Ariel James, Jr.
A special thanks to the employees of Wasatch Dialysis and deep appreciation to the Highland Care Center staff for their cheerful and attentive service.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December, 27, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Millcreek 2nd Ward, 4220 S Jeanine Drive (400 E). Friends may visit with the family Friday evening at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 S 2300 E, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and at the church Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the service.
