Reed Henry Goddard

Mar 8, 1937 — Jan 21, 2022

South Jordan, Utah

Reed Henry Goddard, beloved brother, father, and grandfather passed away suddenly on January 21, 2022 at the age of 84 from a prolonged illness with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy.

Reed was born on March 8, 1937 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He is the son of Ralph Henry Goddard and Mildred Kowallis Goddard. His wife, Jean Allred, who he married December 10, 1959 in the Salt Lake Temple, preceded him in death. She was his very special dear love which he missed every moment of his days without her. He learned compassion and peace by serving her daily for years while she suffered with Alzheimer's Disease. Reed leaves behind his two sisters, Justine (Stephen) Kelsey and Louise, two children, Gayleen Pierce and Randall (Renée), and six grandchildren, all of whom feel the loss of the solid foundation he was for them. Reed successfully completed a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Northern California, served in the Rosecrest First Ward Bishopric, and enjoyed a Church Service Mission at the Employment Center with his best companion ever, Jean. He also served in the Utah Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve as a young man. For thirty years he was self-employed as a contractor specializing in custom cabinet making with a talent and love for understanding structural design. His early hobbies of stamp and coin collecting changed over to testing computer programs and helping to make genealogy and family tree software easier to navigate. Someone the family could always call on for guidance, understanding, or help, he leaves his counsel with us of the importance to always seek knowledge and learning. He was an example of a faithful priesthood holder with a strong testimony of our Savior, Jesus Christ. His family gives special thanks to Reed's ward and hospice caregivers for truly showing compassion by constantly helping, serving, and caring for him with such love.

A viewing will be held on Monday, January 31, 2022 at the River Ridge 2nd Ward at 10168 South 1100 West, South Jordan, Utah . The viewing will be from 11:00 AM to Noon.
