Reinhard Haidenthaller

Reinhard was born on October 28, 1958, in Wels, Austria, the third of 7 children, to Ingomar Josef and Rosina Lipp Haidenthaller. He came to the United States with his parents and four of his six siblings in October 1962. He became a U.S. citizen in April 1968. He enjoyed reading, photography, camping, shooting guns, and writing. He served as a leader in the Boy Scouts of America in a variety of positions for 35 years. He was also involved in politics, helping draft at least four laws on the books in Utah. He served a Spanish-speaking proselyting mission in Bolivia, South America from 1977 – 1979 for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was sealed to his sweetheart, Brenda, in the LDS Jordan River Temple in 1982, and they had four sons and a daughter over a 15-year period. He graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communication in 1990.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his oldest son, Jay Dee; his wife’s parents; a niece, Jessie Ann Jensen, and a nephew, Levi Charles Hobbs. He is survived by his wife; his living children, Heidi (Buckley) Merrill, Joshua R (Bristol), Jeremiah (Kaitlyn), Justin Josef; eight grandchildren; his siblings and their spouses; a sister-in-law, Sherry (Donald) Morrison; a brother-in-law, Steven C (Maradee) Peterson; nephews and nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces, friends and acquaintances.

The viewing is August 7th, 2026, at the Oquirrh 6th Ward chapel at 6673 South Clernates Drive (5300 W), West Jordan, from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm, followed by a funeral at the Oquirrh 6th Ward building the following day at 10 am with a viewing beginning at 8:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, make donations to the Muscular Dystrophy Association to do research for a cure. Do not mourn for me, I go to a better place to watch over you from there.
