Richard George Brown was born on November 15, 1930, in Choteau, Montana, to Arthur E. Brown and Amy Irene Hantsman. He spent his early years on a sheep ranch near Bynum, Montana, until the family moved to Whitefish when he was 13. He attended Whitefish High School and graduated in 1948.
In 1950, Richard married Doris Taylor, and together they raised eight children—six boys and two girls—a family he was immensely proud of.
Over the years, Richard held a variety of jobs, but he was best known for his work at KUTV Channel 2 and for his 28-year career as an Electronic Engineer with the Granite School District.
Richard was an avid golfer who played more than 3,000 rounds on 260 courses. He was especially proud of earning a trophy for achieving two holes-in-one. He was also a dedicated member of the Kiwanis Club for many years.
He enjoyed a long, full, and meaningful life.
Richard is survived by his three children—Arlee Stoker, Russell Brown, and Cynthia Wagstaff—his sweetheart, Winnie Hollenbeck, 18 grandchildren, and 27 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by five of his sons - Douglas, Jeff, Gareth, Clint, Cory.
Viewing and funeral will be held at Memorial Mountain View Mortuary, 3115 Bengal Blvd., Cottonwood Heights. Viewing is scheduled for Thursday November 20, 2025 at 9:45, funeral services will begin at 11:00 with interment to follow.
