Richard was born in Salt Lake City, Utah; (the youngest of 8 children) to Anna Wirthlin and Kenneth Dickinson. In his youth, Richard lived with his family in South Salt Lake and attended school there.

He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served as an ordinance worker in the Salt Lake temple for 13 years. Richard was always faithful in his calling and made many friends there and enjoyed serving.

Richard was a hard worker. He spent his working years at the University of Utah, Western Steel and the Loveridge Machine Company.

He loved to fish on his boat with his friends. He was a Utah Jazz and BYU fan. He always had a large garden that he loved to share the many varieties of vegetables with his neighbors and family. He loved his family and was a Super Grandpa. Richard married Carma on May 27, 2000; they enjoyed 26 years together.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents Anna & Kenneth Dickinson; brothers: Lavar Dickinson, Rex Dickinson and Max Dickinson; sisters: Imogene Tallerico, Joyce Larsen, Rena Cowdell and Luella Jackson.

He is survived by his wife, Carma Dickinson, one daughter: Janet Ferris (Bob) and 3 stepchildren: Sheryl Ipsen (Steve), Michael Winger (Judy) and Robert Winger. He is also survived by 13 step grandchildren and 17 step great grandchildren.



Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026 at the Butler 4th Ward located at 6634 South Greenfield Way, Cottonwood Heights, Utah 84121 at 11:00 a.m. A visitation will be held prior to the funeral from 9:00 - 10:45 am.

Interment will be held at 2:30 p.m. at the Aultorest Memorial Park located at 836 36th Street, Ogden, Utah 84403
