Obituary

Richard John Doty, aged 79, passed away peacefully at his home in Holladay, Utah, surrounded by loved ones.

Born on January 9, 1947, in Toledo, Ohio, Richard was the son of the late Richard John Bratton Sr. and Gladys Manilla McNeal. Growing up, Richard naturally stepped into the role of a caregiver and protector, serving as a second father figure to his younger siblings: Janet Monroe, James Doty Jr, William Doty, and Alyce Holland.

Richard pursued higher education with dedication, ultimately earning a Master's degree in Communication. This expertise shaped his successful, decades-long career as a safety manager and consultant. He dedicated his professional life to teaching businesses the critical importance of workplace safety and establishing rigorous training regimens, leaving a lasting impact on countless workplaces.

For over 40 years, Richard shared a beautiful, devoted marriage with his wife, Sheri Lynn Boyer Doty. Together, they built a life centered on family, service, and unwavering devotion. He was a proud and loving father to his children: Jeremiah Kephart, Michael Doty, Esther Talbot, Jonathan Zarnofsky, and Joseph Doty.

Richard was the personification of a safe harbor. If you called, he came—no questions asked, regardless of the hour or distance. He was the one you turned to for a blessing, the one who showed up with jumper cables in the cold, and the steady voice on the other end of the line when you just needed to talk.

In the words of his son Jonathan, "If you knew Richard, you knew unconditional love." His profound legacy of kindness, dependability, and love will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who knew him.
