Richard Allen Grimsdell passed away January 13, 2026. He was born to Fred W. Grimsdell and Gladys Green Grimsdell on February 11, 1947 and weighed in at a whopping 11 pounds 1 ounce.
Richard graduated from South High School in 1965 and shortly after hired on with Western Electric Installation group. He joined the Army Reserves and was assigned as a Field Wireman where he completed his basic training and the secondary school before ill health caused him to be given a medical discharge.
In July of 1970, he married his loving wife, Claudine Mitchell and spent the next 55 years adventuring with her. In 1974, Casey-Lin, their daughter was born and Richard was over the moon for her.
As all guys who worked for WECO Installation, he spent a lot of time out of town on temporary transfers. Richard had a fun sense of humor with a comment here or an observation there. He was a master of tall tales and would tell them to anyone gullible enough to listen, especially Casey. You never knew what he might dress like or do for a laugh.
Rich retired after 36 ½ years at WECO at the age of 55 and loved the freedom of retirement. He had a pretty good run before his health took a wrong turn.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, brother Leon Grimsdell, a niece and two nephews. He is survived by his wife Claudine, daughter Casey and Grandson Cooper Hansen. He is also survived by his Sisters-In-Law Geri and Karen, Brothers-In-Law Roger, Travis (Terri), Shane (Julie), 7 nieces and 10 nephews.
The family would like to thank Atlas Hospice and the staff of Alta Ridge Memory Care. Immense gratitude to his hospice nurse Rachel Reynolds and staff. We’d also like to thank Liz Pièle for her kindness and friendship.
Funeral services for Richard will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday February 14, 2026 at Memorial Holladay - Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 S Highland Drive Millcreek, UT 84117.
Visitations will also be held there February 13, 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and February 14, 2026 at 10:00 AM.
