Richard Mark Overman

Richard Mark Overman left this world on Monday, October 24, 2016, on his own terms, (before he had to see the outcome of this election), after a good run at fighting stage four Hodgkin's Lymphoma, and succumbing to the effects of chemo damage. Rich came into the world with his twin brother, on November 25, 1950, the youngest of five in Logan, Utah.  He would graduate from high school in Rigby, Idaho after earning the nickname of Mud, and turning his mother's hair white with his antics.  Soon after he would enlist with the U.S. Army, serving for three years and then continuing in the Army Reserves for over 20 years.

Along the way, he would try his hand at marriage, before concluding that it was a prison sentence not worth serving, but worth the reward of two great kids (well at least one...the jury is still out on the other.....). ReNee Anne McDonald (Mack) and Richard Jeromy Overman (Amanda) would give him his greatest joy; his grandchildren. His biggest challenge would prove to be a daunting but worthwhile task as he came to share a home and a circus experience for the next 2 years with ReNee's family.  He didn't call them monkeys for nothin'. Chayce Findley (Michelle), Carrisa ReNee (Taylor Bird), Ashlee Maxine, Mackelle Elizabeth, Jay Duncan, Sara Kinley-Kate, Samantha Anne, Abbie Nadine, Aurelia Jen and Beaudry Riggs would have the special privilege of getting to know and serve this gentle and whole hearted, loving soul. As Rich made his rounds through the doctors and the nurses at the Huntsman Cancer Center, there wasn't a person that didn't hear the joy in his voice at telling them of Jeromy's baby, his new grandson to be, Oliver Jean, who he is now playing ball with and teaching him to mock the Steelers, all before his earthside adventure begins on November 4th, along with getting a good eye roll down, so that little Oliver's parents know that "pops" is watching over.

Rich was most happy, hanging out his family, teasing and taunting his many nieces and nephews, giving the bird to his brothers and missing his biggest cheerleaders.  He was so very sad to lose his best friend and mother, Marr Bryson Overman in February of 1998, and thought of her every day. He is survived by and looked up to his brothers, Ken and his twin, Robert (Joanna), and sister Karen Manhart (Dennis) and always shared the good (and sometimes the naughty) memories that they made through the years.  Marreen Casper (Ron) paved and cleared his way into heaven (or is it paid?). There wasn't anything that he wouldn't buy or do for his family...except cheer on the University of Utah Utes (which coincidentally lost as he gained his angel wings....I'm sure that was his first request).

Rich was a peaceful, god fearing, heart of gold, lovable soul that didn't meet a person he didn't like.  He will be missed more than words can describe.  Interment and military honors will be at Camp Williams, 17111 S Camp Williams Road (Redwood Rd), Bluffdale, Utah at 10 am, Friday, November 4, 2016. Luncheon to follow in Kaysville, Utah.
