It is with great love and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Richard "Bill" William Timmerman, who left this world peacefully on October 2, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones.
Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on February 13, 1936, to William Peter Timmerman and Mary Elvira Littlefield, Bill was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He now joins the love of his life, Beverly Roberts Timmerman, in eternal rest.
Bill lived a life dedicated to service, family, and community. For over 25 years, he proudly served as a Salt Lake County Sheriff, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues and community through his unwavering commitment to protecting and serving others. After retiring from the Sheriff's Department, Bill continued his career in law enforcement with the United States Marshals Service before transitioning to work at Wells Fargo Bank, where he later retired. On February 9, 1956, Bill married Beverly Roberts. Together, they built a beautiful life, raising six children who were the center of Bill's world. As a husband and father, he was a true role model-teaching by example the values of hard work, integrity, loyalty, and kindness.
Bill's legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched, both personally and professionally. He will be remembered for his strength, humor, and deep devotion to his loved ones. There was truly never a person who met Bill that didn't love him. He lived his entire adult life in the home he built in 1962 on the same street where he raised his family. In his spare time. Bill showcased his incredible skills as an upholsterer and craftsman, not only building his home but also a beloved family cabin. In later years, he found peace and joy spending time at his second home in Southern Utah, fondly known as The Hideout.
Bill is survived by four of his children: Cynthia Stugelmeyer, Rodney Timmerman (Cindy), Sandra Kocsis (Ernie), and Amy Perkins; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; his brother Gerald L. Timmerman (Lorraine); and his sister Mary E. Flowers (preceded in death by husband Richard "Dick" Flowers).
He is preceded in death by lovely wife Beverly Roberts, his beloved children Carrie Zane Timmerman (Chuck Linn) and William Scott Timmerman (who passed away as an infant); granddaughter Lacey Archer; his parents; and brothers W. Eugene Timmerman (Alice Jean, deceased) and Robert Timmerman (Verla N. Timmerman, deceased).
Bill was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed. His legacy of love, laughter, and service will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
A graveside service celebrating Bill's remarkable life will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2025 at 2:00 PM with a viewing held prior at 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Holladay Memorial Park, 4900 South Memory Lane, Holladay, Utah, under the direction of Memorial Holladay-Cottonwood Mortuary.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Auburn Crest Hospice and their extraordinary staff for the loving care, compassion, and dignity they provided during Bill's final days. Their kindness, comfort, and support will never be forgotten.
