Robert Nicholas Alleman was born on July 21, 1951, in Amsterdam, Netherlands. He passed away peacefully at home in Salt Lake City, Utah on October 19, 2026, surrounded by his wife and his three sons.
Bob and his family immigrated to the United States when he was 10 years old, and settled in Salt Lake City, UT. He remained in Utah for the rest of his life but always wore his Dutch heritage on his sleeve. A highlight of his life was taking his entire family to Amsterdam to show them his humble roots.
Bob had many passions. He was an avid exerciser, and his social circle largely consisted of fellow 5:30 AM Sports Mall members. He taught his sons the love of soccer and coached all three of them during their adolescence. He had a love for cooking and trying new international dishes, the spicier the better. And of course, happy hour on Bob’s deck was full of laughter, love, and complaining about Utah politics.
Bob enjoyed a long and accomplished career in information technology, dedicating nearly four decades to the field of healthcare technology. For more than 15 years, Bob worked at Intermountain Healthcare, where he served as a systems engineer and ultimately as a Certified Systems Engineer specializing in the HP NonStop platform.
Prior to joining Intermountain, Bob spent 17 years with 3M Health Information Systems as a systems software specialist receiving the 1996 3M Technical Circle of Excellence Award, the highest technical award bestowed by the company. He was honored to have his father join him on the trip to Minnesota to attend the award ceremony in person. Bob was especially proud of all of his children for their dedication to higher education and their advanced degrees. Bob earned his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Westminster University.
His sons remember the many vacations to Las Vegas, San Diego, Puerto Vallarta, and more. These trips were full of some of our favorite memories and strengthened their bond as brothers.
As Bob entered retirement, health struggles resulted in a loss of mobility and independence, but he never lost his quick wit and distinct humor. He was still unbeatable in Jeopardy and never missed an episode.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Maria Alleman and sister Irene. He is survived by his wife Kerry, his sons Matt (Ashwini), Andrew (Carly), and Michael, his brother Nicholas, and his three grandchildren Alida, Darcy, and Walker.
The family would like to extend our deepest thanks to the neurology and oncology teams at Intermountain Health. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Utah Food Bank.
A celebration of Bob’s life will be announced at a later date, but in the meantime, have a margarita in Bob’s honor.
