Robert Gene Conley

August 15, 1939 — January 7, 2026

Our dear father, husband, grandfather, uncle, and friend, Robert Gene Conley, 86, passed away peacefully January 7th, 2026, surrounded by family and loved ones. Robert, “Bob”, lived a life defined by kindness, humility, faith, and service, having built a legacy that will continue to bless countless lives. He was loved by many, and will be dearly missed. Bob was born to Alofa and Edith Conley August 15th, 1939, in Salt Lake City, Utah, and graduated from East High School, and also attended the University of Utah.

Bob married the love of his life, Marsha Davis. On earth their devotion to each other for 68 years was just the beginning of an eternal relationship, a true partnership rooted in love, commitment, and shared faith. Together, they raised seven children and built a family that grew to include 20 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, all of whom were a deep source of joy and pride. Bob’s love for his family was steady, gentle, and unconditional.

Those who knew Bob remember him as someone who constantly strived to do what was right, and always had his priorities in order. He was lastingly kind, and always avoided engaging in gossip or speaking harshly of anyone. Bob, instead chose to exercise patience and understanding towards others. His calm presence brought peace, and his words carried quiet wisdom and sincere care.

Bob was an active and devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and served faithfully in many callings including: high counselor, bishopric member, bishop, and stake Patriarch. Bob loved the Lord and served Him diligently throughout his life. While serving as patriarch he was honored to have given over 1,000 blessings, each one offered with reverence, love, and deep concern for those to whom they were given. He also worked at the Oquirrh Mountain Temple, and later served a mission to Vermont alongside his loving wife, a meaningful experience that reflected their shared dedication to the gospel.

Bob was quiet and soft-spoken, but he had a giant spirit, and loved serving others, especially his sweetheart, Marsha. He also had a very strong testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and was truly one of our Savior’s genuine disciples. Whether through church service, family life, or everyday interactions, he lived his faith with humility and consistency.

Professionally, Bob was an electrician and sales distributor for Stevens Sales Co., he retired from the company in 1998. His electrical career mirrored who he was: dependable, skilled, and always ready to help.

Though Bob has passed from this life, his influence lives on in the countless souls he touched, the family he loved so deeply, and the generations who will carry his example forward.

Bob is survived by his wife, Marsha (Davis) Conley, his children Todd (Lisa), Shawn (Jerri), Elizabeth Gordon (Pete), Tyler, Erin Gilbert (Paul), Angie Smith, 20 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, two dear sisters-in law, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathleen Griffin, his parents Alofa and Edith Conley, an older sister Leilani, an older brother Laverne, and a great grandson Summit Gene.

A viewing for family and friends will be held on Saturday, January 17th, at 11:00 am, followed by the celebration of life program at 12:00 pm at the LDS chapel at 5208 Cyclamen Way, West Jordan, Utah. Following the service the interment will take place at Memorial Mountain View Cemetery in Cottonwood Heights, Utah.

The family would also like to thank the staff at The Abbington in Murray, Utah, and Canyon Hospice who lovingly and patiently provided professional care for dad while he resided there.
