Robert Joseph Blake Jr, age 53, died doing what he loved on March 10, 2023 in Hurricane, Utah. He was born in Meadville, Pennsylvania on October 29, 1969, to Robert Joseph Blake Sr and Melissa Kay Richael Ostrander. On April 25, 2011, he married Paige LeAnn Bogue Poulsen in Kaysville, Utah.
Robert is an Eagle Scout and graduated from Meadville Area High School. He served in the U. S. Navy for four years and with the Utah Army National Guard for 18 years. During his time in the National Guard, he served in Kuwait, Syria, Iraq, Jordan, and other locations. He was part of Operation Enduring Freedom and the Global War on Terrorism. He received many commendations including the Bronze Star Medal. Robert’s full-time employment was at Hill Air Force Base. He loved his military family.
Reading, fishing, hunting, traveling and learning about history were some of his favorite pastimes. He loved to work on cars and go down south off-roading. Time spent with family, especially his grandchildren, were his priorities. At family parties you would find him running the BBQ making sure everyone got fed before he would eat. Helping others was his passion—he was always willing to lend a hand. Robert was a big storyteller. He loved to share stories throughout his life. He will be remembered for his infectious enthusiasm and adventurous spirit. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved exploring new places, particularly those of historic significance such as battlefields and monuments. Robert will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him. His legacy will live on in our hearts forever.
Surviving Robert are his wife, Paige; mother, Melissa Kay (Mark) Ostrander; in-laws Larry Norman and Andrea Gayle Bogue. Children: Layne Harrison (Faith) Blake, Liam Joseph Blake, Mark Daniel Blake, Jarred David (Kayla) Poulsen, Kasey Wayne (Candice) Poulsen, and Rocky Lynn (Zac) Griffith. Grandchildren: Maverick Blake; Dayton (Porsche) Poulsen; Rhiatt, River, Madison and Preston Poulsen; Ashlynn, Damien, Devin, Parker and Jace Poulsen; Isabelle, Ava, Ruby, Quincy, Cru and Cub Griffith; brother, Kyle Ivan Blake; numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and in-laws. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Joseph Blake Sr; his grandparents: Lester and Jane Richael and Glen and Grace Blake.
Funeral services for Robert will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 18, 2023 in the Sunrise Hall at Camp W. G. Williams, 17800 South Camp Williams Road, Bluffdale, Utah. A viewing will be held at the Sunrise Hall on Friday, March 17, 2023 from 5:00-8:00 PM and again on Saturday from 12:00-12:45 PM. Interment at Memorial Redwood Mortuary and Cemetery, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah. We love you, Robert.Service Information
