Robert “Bob” Neslen, 66, of Holladay, passed away on October 16 after a battle with stomach cancer.
Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Leah and Sidney Neslen, Bob grew up with a zest for life. He graduated from Olympus High School in 1977, served an LDS Mission in both the Connecticut Hartford and Massachusetts Boston Missions, and went on to attend the University of Utah, where he studied business. Go Utes!
In 1985, Bob met the love of his life, Tammy Capener. Together, they became the life of every party. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple in 1986 and went on to raise three daughters who adored him.
Bob had a love for nice cars and loud music, often found cruising in his red GMC truck with the speakers blasting. Known for his impeccable sense of style and especially his shoes and boots, Bob always stood out. He was an avid skier, loved to travel, and was the best dancer at every party he attended. He lived life to the fullest.
Some of Bob’s happiest moments were spent with his family on his boat at Lake Powell — his favorite place on earth. He loved exploring canyons, spotting shapes in the red rock, early morning water skiing, sunset surfing, cliff jumping, and stargazing with his girls.
His greatest joy, however, was being a grandpa. Bob absolutely adored his four grandchildren and could always be found cheering them on at their games and activities, especially baseball.
Bob had a special gift for connecting with the youth. He found great joy in serving in the Young Men organization and YSA bishoprics, where his energy, humor, and love for life inspired everyone around him. He made everyone feel seen and important.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leah and Sidney Neslen. He is survived by his beloved wife, Tammy; his daughters Kelsie (Cody), Kylie, and Lexie (Viane); his grandchildren Grayson, Cash, Sophie, and Braxton; his siblings, Deborah (Steve) and Richard (Jolene); and countless extended family members and friends who loved him.
A viewing will be held on Friday, October 24, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., and again on Saturday, October 25, from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at 4917 Viewmont Street in Holladay.
