Beloved father, grandpa, brother, uncle, and friend peacefully returned home to his Heavenly Father and loved ones on Thursday, June 10th.
Bob was born July 23, 1922 to Beda and George Timpson in Salt Lake City, UT. He was the oldest of four boys and enjoyed an idyllic childhood. He participated in ROTC and graduated from the University of Utah in Accounting. During WWII he was an instructor in infantry tactics and communication. On V-J Day, August 14, 1945 he married his sweetheart of two and a half years, Ruth Ellen Allred, in the Manti Temple. Soon thereafter, he was stationed in Japan for over a year as part of the postwar effort. Upon returning home to Utah, Bob began a successful career as an accountant.
Ruth and Bob raised three children: David, Karl, and Mary. They shared more than twenty-seven beautiful years together until Ruth passed away from complications of Multiple Sclerosis. Bob was blessed with another sweetheart to love. He married Phebe H. Warner on November 23, 1973 and added eight more children to his family: Sharen, Dianne, Judy, Rick, Max, Barbara, Byron and Dick. Their loving marriage lasted more than thirty-four years, until Phebe passed away. Everyone who knew Bob knew he was devoted to his family--he lived to love and serve.
Bob had an amazing tenor voice. He loved to sing barbershop with his brothers, duets with his Ruthie, and he was always in a choir. He also delighted in sharing his collections of model airplanes and cars, stamps, coins, and soldiers with family and friends.
As a man of faith, Bob was a diligent and lifelong servant of the Lord. He magnified his church callings and cherished his service as an ordinance worker in the Salt Lake Temple. Bob was a constant example of compassion, patience, integrity and love. He was truly revered by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
He is survived by his children: David (Shaina) Timpson, Tammy Cardon, Karl (Pamela) Timpson, Mary (Morris) Smith, Sharen (Jim) Whitley, Dianne (Steven) Osguthorpe, Judy Warner, Rick (Janine) Warner, Max (Nancy) Warner, Barbara (Jerry) Costello, Byron (Janice) Warner, and Dick (Vicky) Warner; fifty-four grandchildren and eighty-two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two of his brothers, Donald (Beverly) Timpson and Richard (Drew) Timpson, and four sisters-in-law, Lila Timpson, Bertha (Chauncey) Riddle, Beth (Darwin) Wilkins, and Kaye Allred. He is preceded in death by his brother Jay Timpson, brother-in-law Perry Leon Allred, Jr., daughter-in-law Jill Timpson, granddaughter Devin Brandon, and grandsons Chris Costello and Michael Warner.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 18 at 11:00 a.m. at Mount Olympus 5th Ward, 3610 East 3510 South, SLC. A viewing will take place Thursday, June 17 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, and at the church Friday morning 9:30-10:30, prior to funeral services.
Robert's final resting place will be beside his wife Ruth in the Salt Lake City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.holbrookmortuary.com
