Robert Vincent Zickella was born on August 29th, 1936, in Montclair, New Jersey to Josephine Barbone and Michael Zickella. He was the eldest of three boys and was a good example to his younger brothers, always looking out for them. Frank, or Frankie as he was known, and Richard, or Dickie. Our loving father passed away among his family members in Salt Lake City, Utah on October 30th, 2025 after a long life that took him from New Jersey on the East coast with its boardwalks full of food, music, busy people and the ever-beckoning waves of the Atlantic sea shore far to the West where he enjoyed the many beauties that the rugged Rocky Mountains offered. He enjoyed boating with his boys and teaching them the joys of fishing, swimming and outdoor fun in the sun. He loved being with them and they all enjoyed many happy hours together sight-seeing, exploring, and camping.
In his early years he developed talents in the art world which became of good use to him later on into his adult years where he was employed painting signs before going on to sales in many different areas. His cooking expertise came from non-other than a group of ever loving, ever busy aunts, grandparents and mother enveloping him in that wonderful food-loving world of the Italian culture. He grew up surrounded by a warm and loving family.
Growing up near the ocean, as a teen-ager it was a given that he would spend a lot of time on the beach sun-bathing, swimming, diving, and landing a job as a lifeguard. He trained with professional body builders at the local gym and developed quite a physique that many pictures of him and his life-guard buddies liked to show off. He also perfected beautiful diving skills and didn’t mind showing those off either.
Family was everything to Bob. He was big on birthdays, and holiday celebrations. He always made Christmas magical and fun hiding presents all day long so that Christmas morning would last just a little bit longer. He gave reverence for Easter and supported his sons in their celebrations for the holidays. He also respected religious events such as baptisms, marriages, and baby blessings and was always supportive of those special family events. He taught his sons to have respect for others and to have good manners.
He is survived by his two sons, Robert Vincent Zickella Jr. and Anthony Richard Zickella, (Alissa Zickella, daughter in law). He has eight grandchildren, Michael A. Zickella, (wife, Madelyn Zickella), Jacquelin A. Zickella, (husband, Soo Young Lee), Alexis V. Zickella, (husband, Luke Peterson), Nathaniel Zickella, Ryan J. Zickella, Emma M. Zickella, Mikinley A. Zickella, and Nicholas W. Zickella.
He is preceded in death by his father Michael J. Zickella, mother, Josephine Zickella, (Barbone), brother, Richard Zickella, and brother, Frank Zickella.
