Our Beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great grandfather Ron Layton Hurst Jr. returned to the loving arms of his Savior January 29, 2026. Ron was born July 27, 1948 in Blanding Utah, to Ron L. Hurst Sr. and Erma R. Powell, the fourth of nine children and the first boy. He was his mother’s rock, helping support his siblings from a young age.
He met the love of his life, Ann Marie Casto, in September 1968 at Hire’s Big H in Salt Lake City. They were married in Salina, Utah on March 15, 1969. Sealed for time and all eternity August 22,1986.
Ron served in the United States Army as a Military Police Officer for 2 years. Ron was part owner and auto mechanic of Happy Tires. He later joined the United States Postal Service where he was a Mail Carrier for 32 years before retiring in 2014. He was a hard worker who loved to work on cars, go camping and go to Lagoon. He never met a home repair or project he couldn’t tackle, if he didn’t know how he figured it out, sometimes by trial and error. He loved to travel, having visited China, Mexico, Kuwait and Egypt- as well as many states and national parks. He was also an amazing cook. We will miss his salmon, halibut, steaks, fried taters, bread rolls, cinnamon rolls, and scones.
He is survived by his wife, Ann, their children: Ronda (Stan), Debra (Sam), Joshua (Meghan) and Amanda (Jason), his sisters Linda, Barbara, Suellen, Robyn, Shaunna, his brothers, Harold and Carl. 18 Grandchildren, 15 Great Grandchildren. He is proceeded in death by his parents and sister LeAnn.
Our Family would like to thank Intermountain Hospice nurses and aides, especially Cassie and Gretchen.
