Ronald Benson Anderson Obituary

Ronald Benson Anderson, 86, dearly loved husband, father, grandfather, brother and cousin, passed away on March 25, 2024 from cancer at his home in Sandy, Utah.  He was born February 4, 1938 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Clarence Aagard Anderson and Virgo Benson Anderson.


 He enjoyed most of his childhood in Cedar City, Utah before moving to Salt Lake at age 16, later graduating from Olympus High School.  He attended Brigham Young University where he met Sylvia Inez Stephens.  They were married and sealed in the Los Angeles, California Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints September 10, 1959.   He received his BS degree in Industrial Management from BYU in 1961.  He served in the U. S. Army Reserves from 1962-1968.  During his career, he worked in Industrial Engineering for North American Aviation in Downey, California, then EIMCO Corporation, Sperry Univac, Unisys, Lockheed Martin, and L-3 Communications in Salt Lake.  


 He served faithfully in many Church callings, working in the Elders and Seventies Quorums and Sunday School, as a Stake Missionary, High Priest Group Leader, Cub Master, and Stake Clerk.  


 Sylvia passed away January 16, 2016.  He then married Marva Hardy on June 15, 2016.

   

At the end of his life, he said that his life had been “blessed tremendously” because he had tried to put the Savior, Jesus Christ, first in his life.  

 

He is survived by his wife, Marva Hardy Anderson, sons Stephen (Tammy) and Bryan (Michelle) and daughter Michele “Shelly” (Darrin) Anderson, 7 grandchildren: Austin and Connor Anderson, Natalie (Tanner) Ashby, Eliza, Kelsey, and Marinna Anderson, and Kaylee Anderson, brother-in-law Richard Sharp, and brother LeRoy (Dianne) Anderson as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.  

 

Preceded in death by his parents, sisters Sharon (Donald) Patton and Margo Sharp, and infant sons Alan Benson Anderson and Neil “K” Anderson.


 There will be a viewing Thursday, April 4, 2024, at Murray Memorial Estates Mortuary from 6:00-8:00 pm, 5850 South 900 East, Murray, UT.

 

A second viewing will be held Friday, April 5, 2024 at the Mount Jordan 2nd Ward from 10:00-10:45 am., 9331 South 300 East, Sandy, UT.  Funeral services will be held after this viewing from 11:00 am-12:00 pm at the Mount Jordan 2nd Ward.  

                              

Ronald's interment will take place at Mountain View Memorial Cemetery located at 3115 East 7800 South, Cottonwood Heights, Utah 84121 at 12:30pm.
