Ronald Kay Gygi

Ronald Kay Gygi peacefully passed away on September 21, 2017.   He is now with his Heavenly Father and reunited with his wife, Janice T. Gygi.  Ron suffered for many years with Parkinson's disease and we are grateful he is no longer suffering.

Ron was born December 29, 1929 to Wilford and Dora Gygi.  He was the oldest of 3 children.  He served a successful LDS Spanish/American mission in Texas and New Mexico, attended the University of Utah and served honorably in the Army during the Korean War from January 1953 to October 1954.

Ron married a beautiful young lady, Janice Tolman, on January 16, 1953 in the LDS Salt Lake City Temple.  In their 61 years of marriage they had 5 children, their oldest stillborn with 4 currently living; Kim, Mark, Susan and Scott.  Janice and Ron made several trips to Europe during their marriage with their favorite being the one to Austria.

Ron was a natural born salesman, which is the profession he held most of his working life.  He held numerous Church callings to include a tour guide at the LDS conference center when it first opened and was called to minister at the Utah State prison for many years.

Ron is survived by his children:  Kim (Jake) Carlson, Mark (Lori) Gygi, Susan (Tom) Price and Scott (Kristen) Gygi, 8 grandchildren Ashley (Michael), Danielle, Jenny, Sean, Michael, Taylor (Ariel), Jared and Ryan and 5 great-grandchildren.  He is also survived by his sister, Sharon Gygi Neumann, his dear sisters-in-law (who cared so well for him), Sally (Jay) Wimmer, Linda (Jim) Smith and Kristie (Bob) Pitts and brother-in-law Alfred Van Wagenen.  Preceded in death by his wife, Janice Tolman Gygi, his sister, Doreen Adams and his parents Wilford and Dora Gygi and their first baby, Randy.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday September 30, 2017 at 11:00 am at Holbrook Mortuary at 3251 South 2300 East, SLC, UT.  A viewing will precede the services from 9:30 am to 10:30 am.  A viewing will also be held on Friday, September 29, 2017 at Holbrook Mortuary from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm.  Interment will be immediately following the Saturday services at Holladay Memorial Park, 4900 South Memory Lane, Salt Lake City, UT.
