Ronald Lee Matthews Sr

Ronald Lee Matthews died on March 27, 2023. He was born in Sugarhouse, Utah on September 10, 1940 to Sidney Lyman Mathews and Velma Allred Matthews. He served in the military during the Korean War. On December 6, 1961 he married Rita Marshall and was her loving husband for 62 years.
A man of great whit and sense of humor: Ronald was a great father to his three children and numerous other foster children. Music was a large part of his life. He played the guitar and drums and was lead singer. He grew up playing music with his family, “The Matthews Variety Combo.”
He loved the outdoors and was often found camping, fishing, hunting, or playing golf.  He also enjoyed bowling. For many years he drove truck achieving more than one million accident-free miles. He was also a jewelry salesman who received numerous awards.
Surviving Ronald are his wife, Rita Marshall Matthews; daughter, Christy (Aaron) Wilson; son, Ronald Lee (Patricia Weber) Matthews Jr.; son, Gregory Warren (Stacie Waggoner) Matthews; eight grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents: Sidney Lyman Mathews and Velma Allred Matthews; and siblings: Lane, Marjorie, and Shelia Matthews.
