Ronald Frank Mumford

Ronald Frank Mumford passed away peacefully at his home in Holladay, Utah on July 5, 2025 at the age of 91. Born to Thomas Mumford and Francis Frank on November 7, 1933 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Ron grew up in the Millcreek neighborhood and graduated from South High School in 1952. He served in the US Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Japan. He graduated from Utah State University as a mechanical engineer. He married Jean Duehlmeier and they had four children: Jackie, Brian, Brent (“Mo”), and Tamara. His marriage to Jean ended in 1985. In 1986 he met Carol Bingham and they married in October of that year. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.

Ron had a successful career as a manufacturer’s sales representative for several lines of electrical equipment, and he traveled all over Utah, Idaho, Wyoming and Nevada. He retired and sold his business in 2002. He and Carol later served as hosts at the Salt Lake City Conference Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and later they also were called and served as missionaries in the Church’s addiction and recovery program. Ron was a natural grandfather, and one of his favorite church callings was when he and Carol were called to serve in the nursery of their ward in Holladay, where he’d spend Sunday’s tending to the babies and children in the ward.

Ron was a very generous and giving man and was known to everyone as a “fix-it” guy who could fix, build or remodel just about anything from cars to showers. He loved flying and owned his own plane for a time, as well as a boat where he and the family spent hours water skiing on Willard Bay and at Lake Powell. Ron loved anything with a motor and wheels was a member of the old “Salt Lake Saints” car club. In his later years he became known as “The Bike Man” as he spent countless hours refurbishing and repairing discarded and unclaimed bikes then donating them to individuals in need of basic transportation, and refugee resettlement groups.

More than anything though, he loved his wife Carol and did everything he could to make her happy. Numerous people have said that Ron and Carol’s marriage was a model to aspire to and a love for the ages.

He is survived by his wife Carol Mumford; his sister Christine Done; his children Jackie Peck, Brian Mumford, Brent Mumford, Tamara Snellbaker; step-son Gary Gardner, step-daughter Jill Hutchinson; foster-daughter Stacy Henri; nephew Cody Done; and ten grand-children, five great-grandchildren, and one great-great, grandchild -- as well as countless friends over the years, all who remember a kind, generous, fun-loving, and caring man who will be greatly missed.

A Viewing and Celebration of Life with Family and Friends for Ronald Mumford will be held Saturday, July 12, 2025 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint chapel, 4568 South Holladay Blvd, Holladay, Utah.

Graveside services will be held, Monday, July 14, 2025, 10:00 a.m. at the Memorial Holladay Cemetery, 4900 South Memory Lane, Holladay, Utah 84117.
