Ronald Ray Bangert

July 8, 1944 — September 12, 2023

Ron passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on September 12th.  He was born on July 8, 1944 in Billings, Montana.  Later the family moved to Monticello, Utah and then Salt Lake City.  He excelled in baseball and basketball at Granite High where he graduated in 1962.  In 1964 he married the love of his life Alayne.  When they met he was mesmerized by her beauty and the yellow mini skirt she had on didn’t hurt 😊.  Together they had 5 children.  Family was the most important part of his life and no matter how many trophies he won, family was his greatest accomplishment.  He instilled in his children his strong worth ethic and raised them to believe they could achieve any goal they set for themselves.  He taught the same message to all the young athletes he coached in baseball and softball. He coached his teams to little league championships, several state championships and multiple trips to nationals.  From All Stars to misfits he inspired them to be the best they could be.  Win or lose his athletes were always winners to him.  When he wasn’t coaching he was fishing.  Many times leaving work early to fish until dark.
He is survived by his wife Alayne, son Troy (Valerie), daughter Tammy Bannon, daughter Tonya Chavez, son Trent (Britt), grandkids, great grandkids, sisters Judy and Sandy and nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his mother Martha Ewell, brother Kenny Bangert, sister Nancy Cochrane, daughter Tracy, son in law James Chavez and son in law Tyler Bannon.
A celebration of life will be held September 30th at 11:00 am at Lake Hills Mortuary 10055 S. State St. in Sandy with a family visitation at 10:00.
