Ronald Jay Rich

December 29, 1942 — December 12, 2025

Ronald Jay Rich was born in Price, Utah, on December 29th, 1942, to Jay and Sarah Rich. Dad graduated from Carbon High School in 1955. He married the love of his life, Dorthy Earney, on August 6th, 1955. We had the joy of celebrating their 70th anniversary this summer.

Dad passed away on December 12th at his home in South Jordan, Utah

Mom and Dad moved to SLC early in 1960 and later settled into Murray, Utah, where they raised their children, Mark and Kelly Rich, Terry and Tammy Rich, Tommy and Jil Rich, Traci Rich Dahle, and Ken Dahle. They have 13 grandchildren, 31 and 3/4, great-grandchildren, and two great-great-great-grandchildren.

Dad was hired at Kennecott Copper Mine as a Machinist but also worked as a welder and mechanic on the trains and for most of his years on the big trucks, where he retired. Dad was talented in many ways; he could make anything broken run again! He loved to weld and make artwork out of anything he put his mind to. He would then paint it and give his pieces to his family, which we will all cherish!

He loved to travel with his children and grandchildren; Mom and Dad took his two-week vacations and spent them traveling with his family. Dad loved to ride motorcycles, ATV’s then his Razor with his family. When they retired, more fun began with travels in their Motorhome to San Diego, Yuma, Quartzite, AZ, and their final years traveling to Bullhead City, AZ, with their daughter Traci and Ken Dahle.

Our family spent many years going camping with Mom and Dad, and always going to Gooseberry Reservoir every Labor Day weekend with the whole family, ATV riding, fire pit fun time, sitting by the RVs just enjoying everyone!

Dad is survived by his wife Dorothy, his children, great and great and great grand children! His sisters Pauline Barker, Loraine Seeley, and Susan Pitts Rich! Many nieces and nephews and extended family members!

We want to thank everyone from Inspiration Home Health Care, who were very caring while taking care of Dad!
