Ronald Coy Schofield

Ron was born in Salt Lake City on August 2nd, 1940 to Elizabeth Erna (Prahl) Schofield and Coy Brady Schofield. He is the first of seven children, preceded in death by his wife, sweet granddaughter, sister, brother, mother and father. As a kid Ron enjoyed traveling the country with his grandparents, playing with friends and family, bowling, outdoor activities, and leather work. As he got older, he loved riding his motorcycle, playing golf, playing cards and board games, camping and going for long drives in the mountains.

Ron was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Betty and Ron were married for almost 5 decades in those years they raised eight children, welcomed thirty-seven grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ron worked as a diesel mechanic for Kennecott Copper Mine, a local dairy and the Polk County School district, retiring after 52 years. He enjoyed his time as a scout master, leader and teacher in his Church. Traveling and camping were Rons main hobbies, he loved going to the coast where they would fly a giant kite, get the lines tangled and end up laughing the entire time. Ron had an amazing sense of humor and could make you laugh during the hardest times. He will be greatly missed by all.

Ron passed away at his home in Dallas, Oregon on August 25th, 2024, just 41 days after his wife passed. He is survived by eight children: Chris Schofield, Gary Schofield, Steven (Karen) Schofield, Niki (Cliff) Hollstein, Deanne Schofield, Mindi (Andy) Abeyta, Jeffrey (Stormy) Schofield, Corie Schofield. Sister Kathy Weber, Brother Dean (Susan) Schofield, Brother Dennis (Jeanne) Schofield, Sister Cheryl (Larry) Nak and many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Rons service will be Saturday September 28th, 2024, at Redwood Memorial Estates at 6500 South Redwood Rd. The family will receive visitors starting at 10 am, the service will be at 11am followed by a gravesite dedication. The family requests that flowers be sent to the SLC service on September 28th at Redwood Memorial Estates.
