Rosalie Strait (née Meyer), age 81, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2026, in Murray, Utah. Rosalie leaves behind a legacy of love that spanned across the many communities she called home.
Born on October 13, 1944, in Kansas City, Missouri, Rosalie was the daughter of Harry Meyer and Wenonah Meyer (née Crumpton). She spent her formative years in Blackburn, Missouri, and attended college at Missouri University in Columbia, Missouri. After graduation, she spent several years teaching elementary school in the Kansas City area. It was there that she met Robert Strait at a bridge game. The two were united in marriage on April 6, 1968, in Blackburn, Missouri—a union that would define the next 46 years of her life until Robert's passing in 2014.
In 1971, Rosalie and Robert relocated to Sunnyvale, California, where they bought a home and raised a daughter, Rebecca. Her favorite pastimes were photography and birdwatching, as well as playing bridge. In her later years, Robert and Rosalie moved to Holladay, Utah, to be closer to their daughter and her family. She will be remembered for her devotion to and support for her grandson, Eric.
Rosalie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Leland Strait, and her parents. She is survived by her brother Harry Meyer, her daughter Rebecca Nielsen, her son-in-law Robert Nielsen, and her grandson Eric Nielsen, as well as a community of friends who will miss her dearly. A graveside service to celebrate Rosalie's life will be held at Elysian Burial Gardens on April 18, 2026 at 1pm. She will be laid to rest alongside Robert at Elysian Burial Gardens.
