Our beloved mother, grandmother, wife, and friend, Rose Ann “Rose” Shaw, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 21, 2025.
Rose was born on December 13, 1956, in Salt Lake City, Utah, the eldest daughter of Roy J. Heagren and Rosalie (Plescia) Billeter. From a young age, she carried a sense of responsibility, compassion, and strength that would define her life.
Rose was formerly married to Scott W. Berrett, with whom she lovingly raised two children, Lindsy (Berrett) Sneddon and Braydon Berrett—both of whom she often joked were her “favorite child.” As a single mother for many years, Rose exemplified dedication and selflessness. She worked tirelessly—often holding multiple jobs or going without—to ensure her children had everything they needed. Her family was truly the center of her world.
Later in life, Rose met the love of her life, Mark Shaw, at a singles dance. Their shared love of dancing sparked a deep connection, and they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Draper Utah Temple. Both Rose and Mark often said they wished they had found each other sooner, to have shared even more time together in this life.
Rose had a deep and abiding testimony of the gospel and was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her life was a testament to Christlike service. For many years, she faithfully cared for her mother, who suffered from Alzheimer’s disease—visiting daily after work and rarely missing a day. She served in numerous church callings throughout her life, but her favorite was teaching Primary. She poured her heart into each lesson, spending countless hours preparing thoughtful materials and handouts for the children she cherished.
Raised in a musical home, Rose’s love for music blossomed early. Taught piano by her mother, she later chose to study the violin, performing in school orchestras and musicals—her favorite being Fiddler on the Roof. She also shared her talents by singing in the ward choir for many years.
Rose is survived by her loving husband, Mark Shaw; her children, Braydon Berrett and Lindsy Sneddon; her siblings Danny, Larry, Gary, and Cathy; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will carry on her legacy of love, faith, and music.
She will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to family, her quiet strength, and the Christlike love she showed to all.
