Rosina Gibson

Rosina Clasina Slinger (Coomans) Gibson passed away peacefully October 22, 2026 at the age of 95 in West Jordan, Utah.

Rosie was born on December 18, 1930 in Amsterdam, Netherlands to Andries Slinger and Reinira Josina Van Onzen. She was named after her paternal grandmother.

She had two brothers, Jan and Andries Slinger. Her father later married Maartje Visser. She had two sisters, Janny and Rina and four brothers who joined the family: Jaap, Joop, Nickolas and Johnny. Rosie grew up in this blended family and went to school in the Netherlands. She immigrated to the United States on the S. S. Leerdam. She arrived in New York on January 15, 1951 with a sister and a brother. She helped establish the family household in Salt Lake City, Utah.

She married Gerardus Coomans on June 28, 1957 in the Salt Lake Temple. He preceded her in death in 1967.

She then married Jerry Gene Gibson on September 4, 1969 in Salt Lake City. They lived for many years in Glendale, Utah. Jerry passed away in 2021.

She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved serving the little children in the Primary program. Rosie loved animals, especially her dogs. She worked outside of the home for many years, most notably at a dry cleaner.

She will be remembered for her sweet and optimistic personality by her sister, Rina (John) Evens and numerous nieces and nephews who survive her.

The family would like to thank her friends, Jerry and Kathy Craven, for their special care and service given to Rosie and Jerry in their final years.

Services for Rosie and Jerry Gibson will be held Friday, October 30, 2026 at 3:00 pm. Memorial Estates-Redwood, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah.

Rosie and Jerry will be interred together.
