A DAD’S LOVE INSPIRES YOU TO STAND TALL AND ALWAYS BE STRONG

Dad…our ROCK, our STRENGTH and Foundation. You left us too soon, so unexpectedly. Dad never gave up, he wanted to live for his family. He fell ill, and in the end, it was his heart that gave up. He is now flying high with his “SWEETIE”, whom he never envisioned being without. They are once again together to take their “rides” and share in the journey of Eternity.

Dad was a man of quiet strength and unwavering love. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family to ensure we had what was needed to live our best lives. Dad’s actions were stronger than his words, his integrity unmatched. He loved his family.

Dad enjoyed the outdoors; hunting, fishing, 4 wheeling, and, in his earlier days, riding horses. He loved quiet time, but being surrounded by his family and friends was his joy and happiness.

Dad was born in Pueblo, Co. on December 14th, 1946, to Rudy and Anna Garcia. He was the eldest of eight kids. He graduated from Granite High School and furthered his schooling at Salt Lake Technical College, where he received his degree as a draftsman.

Dad enlisted in the Air Force and was stationed in Fort Campbell, Ky. He proudly served his country as a Fuel Specialist from 1966 to 1970; he was honorably discharged.

On November 7th, 1966, dad married his true love and soulmate, Connie Dell. They were married in a little church located on base. They spent the next 59 years happily married, through the good and the bad, through sickness and in health. They were a true example of love and commitment.

They loved their daughter and son beyond measure. The adventures and memories shared live on in our families today. Dad and Mom raised us with constant love, strong family values and to live our lives to the fullest.

Dad loved us kids, but his grandkids and great-grandkids took over his heart. He wanted to share in everything they did and stay connected to all that was happening in their lives. He was their biggest supporter; he was so very proud of them all. They were the light that shown bright in his eyes.

Although dad was an excellent draftsman, he got the crazy idea to go into trucking. He successfully owned a trucking business, Rg Trucking, for many years. He was proud of his work and would always remind us when we were on one of the roads he helped build.

Dad later worked for the Jordan School District in maintenance, retiring in 2016. He made lasting friendships there that lasted after retirement. It really meant a lot that they kept him in the loop for lunch breaks and conversation.

After his retirement, Dad spent most of his waking hours in his “shop”, which was his paradise and haven. This was where dad did all his “thinking” and “designing”. He was an amazing craftsman and carpenter. He was a perfectionist and the love in dad’s hands was evident in everything he made and did. Dad kept “bizzy” whether it was creating, napping, watching birds or just sitting.

It’s hard to speak of dad without saying mom, because being together is what made him whole. They loved everything outdoors and shared countless adventures camping with their many dear friends and family. They were always helping and giving to others. They were strong in their faith and always supported and dedicated their time to St. Joseph the Worker Parish. Dad and Mom did everything together.

Dad, you are my Hero, my strength, and best friend. I will treasure our talks and times together and will miss holding your hand. I can only imagine the birds you are watching now….just don’t forget to feed them.

Dad and Mom’s legacy will live on in the values they taught and the love they shared so freely. Dad you will FOREVER be in our hearts!

Our thanks to all who were a part of dad’s life, and for all the love and support shown at this difficult time.

Dad leaves behind his daughter Paula (Steve), son Rick (Cori), grandchildren Ashton (Jared), Lindsay (Chistian), Emily (Nick), Ricky 2, great-grandchildren Zeke and Mila. Brothers Danny, Bobby (Theresa) and Bryan (Ruth); Sisters Rita (Louie), Kathy (Rick) Dixie, countless nieces, nephews, family and friends. He is preceded in death by his loving wife Connie, brother Ron, mother and father.
