Our beautiful and talented mother, Ruth Wilson Bennion, died April 30, 2009, in Salt Lake City.
She was born May 9, 1913 in Rexburg, Idaho, to Ray H. and Mary Zollinger Wilson. She married Hyrum Claud Bennion Sept. 22, 1934 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died in 1995.
They lived in Salt Lake City, Tacoma, Wash., Fresno and Desert Hot Springs, Calif., and Chapel Hill, North Carolina. But their favorite residence was traveling across the United States and living in a travel trailer.
She was an award-winning painter, her children and grandchildren have her oils, water colors and pastels to remember her by.
She is survived by three children, Carolyn Monson, Salt Lake City, Susan (David) Jones, Chapel Hill, N.C., and Ronald W. (Kathy) Bennion, Carey, N.C. She has seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She also has three brothers, Robert R. (Marilou), Salt Lake City, Lowell Z., and Lynn A. (Matilda), Albuquerque, N. M., and sister-in-law, Frances Wilson, Salt Lake City.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Ray, and brother Rulon H. Wilson.
As per her request, a small, graveside service will be held later, in the Taylorsville Cemetery, alongside her husband and son.
