Our sweet, beautiful, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend Ruth Welti Hills passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on August 8, 2015 in Holladay, Utah of causes incident to age. Born November 21, 1922 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Albert Carl and Lorraine Marie Dahlen Welti.  She was the 4th of 9 Children.

Mom was extremely intelligent, she valued education and was a lifelong learner. She graduated from South High School at 16, attended The University of Utah and LDS Business College. She had an amazing memory and was blessed to stay sharp and maintain her good sense of humor to the end.   She loved music, had a beautiful voice and had many opportunities to perform with her sisters and friends.  She was very optimistic & diligent.  She found joy and fun in everything, made friends easily, served willingly, and was very appreciative.

Mom was a loving and devoted mother to 7 children. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities; primary chorister, primary teacher, activity days leader, Ward and Stake Relief Society presidencies.  She was the coordinator for a care center in her Stake for 11 years, was a guide at Welfare Square and served in the French name extraction program for over 2 decades.    She served as President of the Hillview School PTA and was active politically in her younger years. She worked at Bryner Clinic, Allied Lab, and Pathology Associates.

Preceded in death by her parents, ex-husband Carl George Hills, and siblings; Carl Welti, David Welti(infant), Connie Schnakenburg, Helen Rock, Thelma Barlow, Lorraine Nakken and Grace Chapman.

Survived by sister Lois Geertsen, children Kim (Kathy) Hills, Carl (Lori) Hills, Donna (Jim) Richards, Callie (Loren) Orcutt, Burke (Vicki) Hills, Jana (Jerry) Gray, Bonnie (Dave) Taylor, 27 Grandchildren and 51 Great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at the Winder Third Ward, 4551 South 1200 East.  Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday evening from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, and at the church on Wednesday morning from 9:30am to 10:30am prior to the services.
