Ruth died peacefully in her sleep January 11, 2010. She was born December 28, 1932 to Fritz Schlick and Ruth Wilke in Berlin, Germany. At age 19, she went to Scotland for a year as a nurse's aide. Then she moved to London, England where she trained as a student nurse. In 1955 she immigrated to the United States. On September 7, 1956 she married Peter Pruess in the Salt Lake Temple. She was pleased to become an American citizen and to gain her high school diploma. Coming from an artistically gifted family, she enjoyed taking painting classes and became a determined and talented seamstress, making matching outfits for her entire family. Also, she was a most gifted knitter, who designed her own creations. She is survived by her husband, Peter, their two daughters; Rebecca (Rick) Jeppesen and Susy (Kim) Bolander, 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Ruth's family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to all those who touched her life in a very loving way. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2010 at 12:00 noon at Edgehill Ward, 1750 South 1500 East, SLC. Family and friends may come and visit at the church from 10:30 to 11:30 am. Interment will be at the SLC Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the LDS Humanitarian Aid Fund. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.holbrookmortuary.com.
