Sandra Louise Dipo

January 10, 1950 — February 12, 2024

Sandra Louise Dipo graduated from this life on February 12th, 2024, at the age of 74, after battling the effects of a short illness. She made the final decision to return home to be with her sweetheart, Gary.  Sandy was born on January 10th, 1950, and was raised by her parents Ronald and Helen Ross in both California and Utah.  She married her best friend, Gary Lynn Dipo on August 6th1971 in the Salt Lake Temple.  Together they built their home and family in the Cottonwood Heights area of Salt Lake City.  Mom received her beautician's license early on but never really worked outside of the home.  She lived out her dream of staying home and raising her children.  Mom had a strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and loved to share that testimony with others.  She understood that this life is a temporary moment and that greater things await us after this life.  Mom loved going to lunch with friends and frequenting her favorite stores throughout the Salt Lake Valley trying to find the latest unique knick-knack for her collection.  Mom was always known for her crazy Halloween decorations, her love of collecting dollsNative American jewelry, and her kindness and charity to others.  There was never a time when she wasn't covered with silver rings, the latest turquoise necklace or bracelet, and she knew the story behind each one.  She loved visiting St. George and most family vacations were spent in the red rocks, swimming and hiking.  Mom faithfully served in many callings in the church and loved her Butler 33rd Ward family.  Mom loved her own family as well and was fiercely protective of us.  She was the definition of a “mama bear” when it came to her children.  We know she will be watching over us now from heaven.

Mom, thank you for the love you showed us, for your example of kindness and charity that you always displayed to others, and for the testimony that you left of the reality of our Savior, Jesus Christ and of His gospel.  Thank you for teaching us about the gospel through your example of selfless service.  The effects of your love will last forever.  You will be dearly missed here on earth but we know that your reunion with Dad was truly amazing.  We now have two heavenly angels to watch over us.  Mom, we love you and want to thank you for being our Mom and our biggest supporter.  You will be missed and our love for you will never end.  We love you to the moon and back.  Until we meet again.  “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened” – Dr. Suess.

Sandy is survived by her five children and their spouses, Jason (Christy) Dipo, Nathan (Amanda) Dipo, Bryan (Rochelle) Dipo, Dustin (Taryn) Dipo, and Erika (Cameron) Bigelow.  She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, Brielle (CarterSouthwick, Mikaylie, Lincoln, Noah, Eloise, Kenadie, Avery, Hazel, Garrett, Dallin, Kaleb, Cruz, Navy and Tage.  She is additionally survived by her brothers-in-law Tom (Darlene) Dipo, Mike Hurdsman, and Dennis (Diane) Dipo.  She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Gary Dipo, her parents Ron and Helen Ross, George and Dora Dipo, brothers-in-law, Richard Carlson and Grant Dipo, sisters-in-law, Doreen Carlson, Dorothy “Dot” Dipo and Judy Hurdsman.
