It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beautiful matriarch, Sarah (Sally) Evans McVane. Sally peacefully passed in her sleep on September 3, 2025, at her home in Henderson, NV, after a heroic battle with cancer.
Sally was born on November 2, 1939, to David Henry and Thelma Carrick (nee Thornton) in Loma Linda, California. She spent her childhood in San Bernardino, CA, before her family moved to Salt Lake City in her teens. It was there that she met her late husband, Thomas J. Evans. They were married in 1959 and were together until his passing in 1979. During that time, they raised five children, one of whom, Jeanette, preceded Sally to be home with our Lord.
After Tom’s passing, Sally met and married Robert (Bob) McVane, with whom she had spent the last 43 years. Sally retired after a 25-year career at US West in Salt Lake and moved to Henderson, NV, where she and Bob built a life, a successful business, and shared many wonderful adventures. Sally was involved in many charitable positions in her association with the Las Vegas Corvette Association, serving as the head of the Sunshine Committee and working with Las Vegas Street Teens and Habitat for Humanity. She was also co-chair of the Silver State Classic Challenge for five years.
Sally was beloved by all who knew her. She cared deeply about her family and friends. She was always kind and welcoming, opening her home and her life to all newcomers, making them family as well. Sally is survived by her husband, Robert, her sister, Claudia Zanone, and her brother Jacob Carrick and his wife, Charlene. She is also survived by her children Jeanne (Lex) Robinson, Dianne Elliott, Linda Evans, Thomas Evans Jr. They all, along with Sally’s grandchildren, Michael, Jason (Ashley), Alex (Laira), Riley (Hendrik) Dalton (Bernadette), Wyatt, and Katelyn, and great-grandchildren, Michael, Evan, Hunter, Hadley, Hayden, Faith, Ryker, Kingston, Karter, and Lena will always love her and be grateful for all the wonderful blessings bestowed on us by having such a radiant presence in our lives.
Sally touched so many lives, and her legacy will extend farther than she could ever imagine. We will miss her forever.
