Saundra Lee Mitchell Carlston

Saundra Lee Mitchell Carlston, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on June 4, 2026, in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was born in Bingham Canyon, Utah, on October 30, 1939, to Duane and Glora Mitchell. She grew up under the loving care of Lois, along with her siblings Dixie and Rodney.

Saundra married her sweetheart, Carl Ray Carlston on March 8, 1957 in Salt Lake City. They were married for 66 years. Together they raised 5 sons.

Saundra enjoyed reading, being pampered at the hair salon and getting together for family occasions. Saundra along with her husband Carl, spent many summers camping and boating with their sons as they grew up and as adults, as well.

She is survived by her sons Ray (Bobbi) Carlston, Vaughn (Jean) Carlston, Gary (Lynette) Carlston, and Eric (Jen) Carlston; 14 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Ray Carlston, son Dale Jay Carlston, grandson Justin Vaughn Carlston, 2 great-great grandchildren Cameron, Theodore, parents, sister and brother.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 20, 2026 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints building, located at 3487 South 1300 East in Salt Lake City with a viewing from 9:00 – 10:30 with the funeral beginning at 11:00 AM. Dedication of the grave will commence after the funeral at the Memorial Holladay Cemetery, 4900 South Memory Lane, Holladay, Utah.
