On Thursday, November 6th, the Pittsburgh Steelers lost one of their most ardent fans, a man who possessed unparalleled knowledge of the franchise's storied history. Dr. Seabury Landon Davies, 55, of Park City, died from complications of colorectal cancer.
Seabury was born in 1959 to the late T. Harrison Davies, Ph. D., and the late Esther Farney Davies, M.D., in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. There he attended St. Edmunds Academy, and graduated from North Hills High School. He received a B.S. in Chemistry from Emory University, and in 1985 graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with an M.D. degree. He married Wendy Allen in 1997, and they lived in Atlanta, Georgia, before moving to Park City in 2002.
Seabury was a board-certified anesthesiologist in Atlanta, Salt Lake City, and Park City. His career in medicine extended well beyond anesthesiology. He was also board-certified in Pain Management, but perhaps his most valuable contribution with respect to medicine was supporting friends and family in making their medical decisions. While fighting his own battle against cancer, he simultaneously assisted many others in their struggle with the disease. It gave him great joy to help others. From early childhood, Seabury loved the outdoors. He was an advanced-level skier, applying the same precision he had developed in anesthesiology to his techniques on the slopes. He was a competitive golfer, an avid mountain biker, kayaker and hiker. His love of the outdoors also included boating and frequent trips to Southern Utah.
Seabury is survived by his wife Wendy and their two children: Harrison and Lara; his sisters Arabelle Luckhardt and Jennifer Davies; his niece Cassandra Luckhardt and nephews Joshua Crane and Matthew Crane. His family is forever grateful for the conscientious care provided by Dr. Jonathan Whisenant, M.D., as well as numerous other physicians, researchers, and health care providers.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Southern Utah Wilderness Alliance in Seabury's name.
Funeral services will be held at Park City Community Church, 4501 N. Highway 224, on Saturday, November 15th at 4:00 p.m.
