Sharon Yvonne Christofferson

May 14, 1939 — September 6, 2014

Sheri was born in Los Angeles on Mother's Day, May 14, 1939, to Wallace and Ada Baker Christofferson. The family soon moved to Ogden, Utah. Sheri attended Ogden High School, where she participated in Drama and Debate. She attended Weber College, where her talents were recognized, particularly in theater arts. She played leading roles in a number of repertory theater plays throughout her college years.

In 1961-1962, she served an LDS mission to France. A highlight of her mission was to find and teach the Henri Marie Le Bras family in Rennes. This was a family with eight children who joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and became a source of strength and leadership in the Church in France and French-speaking Canada.

Sheri graduated from Brigham Young University with honors, having completed a major in Theater Arts and English. She traveled through Asia and Hawaii as a BYU performer. She earned a Master's Degree in Speech Pathology from the University of Utah. Sheri was a speech therapist in Los Angeles County schools and hospitals. She later moved to Salt Lake City, where she was a teacher and therapist in the Jordan School District for 25 years, nurturing and influencing hundreds of children. Sheri had an immense love of travel and other cultures and people; she served as a translator for the Los Angeles and Salt Lake City Olympic Games. Her most recent contribution and joy has been to serve for three years as a guide at the LDS Conference Center.

Sheri has been a source of great joy and loving service to her family and her many friends, who will truly miss her. She is preceded in death by her parents, and her sister, Afton Springer (Don). She is survived by her sister, Penny Clark (Richard); her brother, Craig Christofferson (Diane); and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who love and will miss her fun personality, and her creative and generous nature. How wonderful it is to know that relationships are eternal.

Her influence was ever one of integrity, strength, learning, faithfulness, and fortitude. Sheri personified the words of Paul the apostle, "If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things."

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 13 at Noon at the Holladay 26th Ward: 4601 South 2565 East, in Salt Lake City, where family and friends can visit 10:30-11:30am prior to the service. Grave dedication will follow at the Midway City Cemetery at 3:30pm. Messages to the family can be posted at: www.HolbrookMortuary.com
