Sharon Ann Kistler, our loving wife, mother, Nana, and beautiful friend, peacefully went to be with Jesus on Wednesday, April 29th, 2026, surrounded by her devoted family.
Sharon was born December 28, 1945 in Boise, Idaho, to Margaret and Lloyd Shook.
Sharon graduated from Davis High School in 1964, attended Snow College, and later earned her degree from Stevens Henager College in 1970. On March 16, 1974, Sharon married her soulmate Bennie Kistler Jr. Together, they built a life filled with love, faith, and cherished memories.
Sharon is survived by her daughter, Laura (TJ) Johnson of Magna Utah; her son Daniel (Hannah) Kistler of Gainesboro, Tennessee; her daughter, MaryBeth (Anthony) Kistler of Murray, Utah; and her sister, Diane Clark of Albany Oregon.
She also leaves behind her seven beloved grandchildren: Marki (Cody) Hendricksen, Dakota (Jayden) Kistler, Aaden Lind, Stetson Nichols, Timothy Kistler, Josiah Kistler, and David Kistler.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bennie Kistler, and her parents Margaret and Llyod Shook.
Sharon lived her life devoted to her children and grandchildren. As a stay-at-home mother, she guided her family with unwavering love, strength, and kindness.
She found joy in the simple meaningful moments - especially outdoors with her husband and family. Whether camping, hiking, or making breakfast in Millcreek Canyon, those moments became treasured memories. She had a deep love for gardening, often found outside tending to her flowers. One of her guilty pleasures was drinking tea throughout the day. If you were to visit with Sharon, you could bet that you were offered tea, a heartfelt conversation, and a warm smile.
Purple was Sharon's favorite color and she embraced it fully- wearing it, decorating with it, and surrounding herself with it. She solidified her love for purple by having a purple heart tattoo placed on one of her molars, a unique and lasting symbol of her personality. Purple represents wisdom, creativity, independence, and rarity- and Sharon truly embodied all of those qualities.
In 1969, Sharon survived a serious auto accident. She faced her recovery with tenacity and perseverance. She proved to all those who said she couldn’t, that she could and she would. She didn't just survive, she thrived.
Sharon had the most beautiful and unforgettable smile. It was warm, genuine, and contagious -bringing comfort, light, and encouragement to everyone she met. Her smile was a gift, and she carried it all the way to the end.
A devout Christian, Sharon dedicated much of her life to her faith. She served for many years as nursery coordinator at her church and later found joy as a Sunday School teacher. Even as dementia affected Sharon's memory in her later years, her love for God remained unwavering. Her faith never left her.
We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate hospice team at Canyon’s, especially Kimmie, for your gentle guidance and love shown to our mother. We also thank the numerous CNA'S and other caregivers who cared for Sharon this past year at The Abbington. The personal stories, photos, and memories you shared reflect the deep love you had for her, and they will forever mean so much to us.
Sharon left her family with one final message of love. She took her last breath at 1:43pm. 143 has a meaning of I love you. The numbers represent the letters needed to spell I love you. What a beautiful and meaningful way to say goodbye and message of love as she went to be with her savior.
We love you always, mom ….our Nana …forever!
We will carry you in our hearts always
looking for the purple hues in the sunsets!
