Sharrie Louise Lommen, 56, of Herriman, Utah, passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 17, 2026.
Born in Willamette Falls, Oregon, Sharrie was a devoted mother, grandmother, daughter, aunt, friend, and beloved elementary school teacher. She graduated from Western Oregon State College, later becoming a National Board Certified Teacher and earning her master’s degree in education technology. Throughout her career, she inspired countless students and colleagues with her passion for teaching and unwavering dedication.
Sharrie began her teaching career in South Korea, where she developed a love for travel and adventure. During that time, she explored countries throughout Asia and Europe, embracing new cultures, history, and friendships along the way. She later moved to Northridge, California, where she taught in LAUSD and discovered her passion for teaching ESL students. For the past 20 years, she taught at Silver Hills Elementary, a school that became an extension of her family.
Her grandchildren were her greatest joy. She absolutely thrived in her role as “Nene” to her four grandchildren. She loved her two Maine Coon cats almost as fiercely. When she wasn’t traveling with her mother and family, she was spending time with friends, hosting movie nights (especially scary movies), planning girls’ weekends, and making every holiday, birthday, and life milestone feel special and unforgettable. She enjoyed sewing, reading, and most enthusiastically, shopping on Amazon and TikTok Shop.
Sharrie will be remembered as a devoted mother, the very best Nene, and a hilarious aunt with a wonderfully morbid sense of humor. She impacted thousands of children’s lives for the better. She was a fierce and loyal friend, and she truly made the world brighter.
She is survived by her daughter, Adrienne Fusitua (Daniel); her grandchildren, Kala, Elijah, Ofakipouono, and Talite; her mother, L. Jeannette Lommen; and her nephews, Theo Jeter (Kavier) and Matthew. She was preceded in death by her father, Allen Lommen, and her beloved sisters, Julie Lommen and Tracy Jeter.
A memorial service will be held on March 6, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at Southeast Christian Church.
Sharrie loved flowers, but she loved her students even more. She often gave her own school breakfast or lunch to students in need. In her honor, the family invites you to consider donating to the Granite School District Food Assistance Fund to continue blessing the children she cared so deeply about.
