Kenneth Shayne Fletcher, lovingly known by all as Shayne, passed peacefully in his sleep in the early morning of January 14, 2026. A life lived freely, boldly, and with an open heart came to rest in the most gentle way.
Born on January 17, 1964, in Bountiful, Utah, Shayne was adventurous from the start. His early years were filled with friendships, hockey games, long days spent rallying with friends, and helping his beloved mother, Carole, at the Judge Cafe. Even then, he was building a life rooted in connection, loyalty, and movement.
In his early twenties, Shayne discovered his lifelong career in sound—a path that would carry him across the world and into a life rich with stories, memories, and friendships that spanned decades. His longest and most meaningful professional chapter was spent working with Chris LeDoux, an experience that shaped not only his career, but his spirit. Shayne lived fully, collecting moments and memories that he shared generously with those he loved.
When he wasn't traveling, his heart was at home—with his mom, Carole; his sister, Lisa; and his niece and nephew, Rachel and Jacob, who were his pride and joy. Shayne showed up without question for the people in his life. He was steady, dependable, and endlessly giving. Whether it was a helping hand, a meal, a dollar, or the shirt off his back, Shayne gave freely—often more than he had—because that was simply who he was.
He had friends from every walk of life, and his ability to sustain deep, lasting friendships over time was something many admired. His stories, humor, advice, and laughter will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him. Above all, his love for his family—especially his mother and sister—was profound and unmistakable, felt not only by them but by everyone who witnessed it.
Shayne leaves behind his mother, Carole; his sister, Lisa (Greg); his nephew, Jacob, and niece, Rachel (Cory); and great-niece, Quincy. His half-siblings Jessie, Nicholas, and Casey, and a host of family and friends will miss him dearly.
We will forever remember the way Shayne made us feel—seen, supported, and welcomed. May we honor his life by choosing to be more generous, more open-hearted, and a little more adventurous. We imagine him now flying high, sharing an American Spirit and a beer with the loved ones who went before him.
Please join us for a celebration of Shayne's life on Sunday, February 15th from 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm at Waterbury Clubhouse, 1550 E Waterbury Way, Salt Lake City, UT 84121.
