1929 Sherline 2025

Sherline Marta Steadman Corona

December 23, 1929 — November 20, 2025

Sherline Marta Steadman Corona Age: 95 Died on: November 20, 2025, in Manti Utah She was born on December 23, 1929.

Sherline gave birth to 8 children, 5 girls and 3 boys. One boy died at childbirth. She considered her children her accomplishments. Sherline was a strong, beautiful soul throughout her life. When she was 8 years old (around 1937) she helped her father, our grandfather, dig a basement under their home. Yep, it is true! They had shovels and buckets to do the job. Bucket by bucket-full they dug until they had completed a basement with three rooms. The basement was then finished with cement that allowed for a cement floor and shelves that held their bottled fruits and vegetables from their fruit trees and garden. One room was particularly special because it held a big feather bed that Gloria and Kathi were privileged to sleep in when our family came to visit from Idaho. We loved that bed! I tell this basement story because it is a testament to how amazingly strong and driven Sherline was, even as a young child.

Sherline lost the love of her life, Junior Heap Steadman (August 27th, 1967), at age 38 when she was 8 months pregnant with her 8th child. Jenny was born almost a month later. She raised 7 children on her own while working a full-time job (sometimes more than one). She was a retired ICU/CCU RN for many years. She loved her job. It wasn't just her job; it was who she was at her core. She often talked about how much she loved her patients and missed her work. In fact, she said that she missed nursing up until the day she died. She was a very gifted nurse and loved not only by her patients but also by her coworkers. One of her last hospice nurses to visit her knew her and had been trained by her at Cottonwood Hospital. She had shared how much love and respect she had for our mother as a nurse and a person. She mentioned that "she was absolutely the best nurse she ever knew." Throughout my own nursing career (Gloria) I had heard the same from many, many nurses that I worked with at Alta View Hospital. We were all so very proud of our mother. She didn't just live life, she found joy in life through her work, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. The heartache and challenges that she had to endure throughout her life did not dull her love of life or her love of people.

In my mind she has always been a bodhisattva (a person who is able to reach nirvana but delays doing so out of compassion in order to save suffering beings). There will always be a missing piece in our hearts for her family and those of us who loved her. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. As her children, we will always feel the warmth of her pure love. Goodbye Mama, rest in the peace that you so much deserve. Until we gather again in perfect love.

Our mother wished to be cremated and placed in a mountain view urn with scatter capabilities to spread to a few of her favorite places on earth and will also be given to her children.

The family will place a headstone at West Jordan Cemetery, where our father is buried, that will include both Sherline and Junior’s names along with birthdates and death dates. For those that wish to pay their respects.
