Sherry Marie Northrop

June 29, 1965 — October 7, 2023

Colorado Springs, CO

Sherry Marie Sandberg Northrop, born on June 29, 1965, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to parents Robert and Bernice Sandberg, left this world on October 7th, 2023. She departed this life peacefully, at her home in Colorado Springs, surrounded by love.

Sherry attended West High School, Class of 1983, where her talents as a gymnast shone brightly. On December 9, 1983, she married Samuel Waterfield Sr. Together, they were blessed with three children: Samuel Jr., Stephanie, and Sean. Following her first marriage, Sherry married Michael Northrop, whom she loved dearly, on July 4, 1994, later bringing their daughter, Mikayla into the world. Her devotion to her family was unwavering, and she embraced the joys and challenges that came with motherhood with boundless love and grace.

Sherry was not only a dedicated wife and mother but also a woman of great faith. She earned an Associate's degree in Biblical Studies from Western Bible College and had a deep and abiding love for Jesus Christ, which she expressed through her gift of music. Sherry was a talented vocalist, guitarist, mandolin player, and pianist. She used her musical talents to worship and share her faith with others, recording two inspiring Christian rock albums.

Her devotion to her faith extended to many congregations throughout her life. She held the role as Music Pastor at Endurance Church of the Valley in Tempe, Arizona, where she ministered through song.

Sherry had an infectious laugh and a great sense of humor. She cherished every moment spent with her family and friends, finding joy in the simple pleasures of life. Sherry was known for being loving, kind and accepting of all.

Of all the titles she held, Sherry's favorite was "Nana” to Ben, Ruby, Holland, Riley, Emery, and the awaited arrival of baby Michael.

Sherry leaves behind a legacy of faith and love that will continue to uplift those fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of loving her. She is survived by her husband Michael, father Robert, brother Gary (Lori), and children Sam Jr. (Kylee), Stephanie (Isaac), Sean, and Mikayla (Austin).
