Shirley Anderson Christensen

February 25, 1929 — January 5, 2023

Shirley has graduated from this life and is dancing in the arms of her best friend and husband, Max, who has been waiting for her arrival. She was born on February 25, 1929, in Cedar City, Utah to LaVon Shurtz and John Wilford Anderson. She returned to her heavenly home on January 5, 2023, in West Jordan, Utah. She married R. Max Christensen on June 19, 1946.
She was a loving mother to their four children – Maxine, Pamela, Keelee, and Ronald, and will miss them during this short separation.
She hopes that her 13 grandchildren will remember not only the fun slumber parties, goodies shared, crafts made, and videos watched but will know of her testimony to the truthfulness of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, her love for the temple and her devotion and service.
When Max was called home so suddenly in 1980, Shirley knew that she would need to have a better job to support herself, so she enrolled at the Salt Lake Community College. She hopes that her love of education will be another legacy for her grand and great grandchildren.
She served in many callings in The Church including: The Relief Society President, Young Women’s Councilor, and secretary in many organizations. She loved to serve others. She was a devoted temple worker for over 16 years.
After several years of being alone, she met and married Bill Wilson and became a 2nd mom and grandma to his family. They enjoyed traveling together. Bill passed away in 2015.
Shirley leaves behind her four children: Maxine Barnes, Pamela (Kirby) Justesen, Keelee (Kevin) Powell, and Ronald (JaNae) Christensen. Her 13 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren. Her siblings Jim (Dixie) Anderson, and Lorna (Ken) Defiebre.
We would like to thank the wonderful staff at Sunridge Memory Care for their love care of our mom.
