Shirley Clark Glaus

March 9, 1929 — February 1, 2008

Shirley Clark Glaus, age 78, our loving wife, mother, and grandmother passed away February 1, 2007, quickly after suffering a stroke. She was born March 9, 1929, in Garland, Utah to George A. and Eunice T. Clark. She married Frank Wayne Glaus May 4, 1950 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She lived a life full of service and adventure. She shared her musical talents as an organist in churches in New Zealand, Hawaii, and Utah. While serving a Cove Fort mission with her husband, she developed a keen interest in pioneer landscaping which led her to countless hours of volunteer work at This Is The Place Heritage Park and missionary-guide service on the Church Office Building grounds. She thirsted for learning and after raising a family she returned to the University of Utah at age 61 and earned a Bachelor of Science degree. Family togetherness was brought about by annual family reunions held throughout Utah and in California, Nevada, and New Mexico, organized under her direction, and annual weeks at Snowbird Resort. Her grandchildren remember pleasant hours of surrounding the table playing games. She was employed for many years as secretary to a bank manager. She was a person of great faith in our Lord and Savior and an example of goodness to all she met. She is survived by her husband Frank Wayne Glaus and children: Alan (Shelly), Jeri (Jeff) Black, Randy (Maharba), Bryan (Marilyn), Tane, and Susan (Joel) Borgmeier, 30 grandchildren and presently 9 great-grandchildren; a brother Don and sisters Fae and Joyce. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mt. Olympus 9th Ward Chapel, 4635 South Lanark Rd (3315 East). A viewing will be held on Monday evening, February 4, 2008 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East and from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment: Salt Lake City Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.holbrookmortuary.com
