Shirley Marie Erekson Garff

Shirley Marie Erekson Garff, age 92, passed away January 24, 2024, in South Jordan, Utah. Born April 1, 1931, in Murray, Utah, daughter of William Shirley Erekson and Jennie Wright. Shriley was raised in Murray, Utah. She grew up on a mink ranch where she shared many beautiful memories with her siblings and loving parents. She graduated from Jordan High School as president of her senior class. She married Newell Kay Garff on August 17, 1949, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Newell and Shirley resided in the Holladay, Cottonwood, and Murray areas during their 65 years of marriage, during which they raised three wonderful children. She retired from First Security Bank after 35 years. Shirley and Newell were members of the Southeast Lions Club in Salt Lake City. She was an active member of the LDS Church. She loved caring for their beautiful home and flower garden, going on shopping trips and getting pampered in the salon. She lived a beautiful life of service to her husband, family and friends. Even with a fading memory, she continued to bring joy and light to those around her. She will be deeply missed.

Preceded in death by her husband Newell, son, Kim Garff of West Jordan and daughter Lorna Gochis of West Jordan. Survived by daughter Shauna Parry, of West Jordan, sister Ardis Macfarlane, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Her family wished to thank those who loved and cared for her in her final years at Copper Creek Senior Living and Inspiration Home Hospice.

Viewing to be held Saturday, February 3, 2024, from 12:00pm-1:00pm Memorial Mortuary of Murray located at 5850 South 900 East, Murray, Utah 84121. Graveside services will be held Saturday, February 3, 2024, at 1:00pm at Murray City Cemetery.
