Shirley Ruth Jackman Bingham, 75 years old, returned to her Heavenly Father on February 17, 2023.
She was born to Ruth and James Jackman on May 24,1947, at the Dee Memorial Hospital, in Ogden, Utah. She attended school at Quincy Elementary, Mount Ogden Junior High, and Ogden High School, class of 1965. Go Tigers! She went on to graduate from Hollywood Beauty College as Valedictorian of her class in 1967. She also graduated from Ogden Skills Center Business School in 1978 after her divorce from William H. Walker. They were married for five years. The very best thing to come from the marriage is her wonderful, smart daughter Jeannie, who has cared for her mother tirelessly throughout her battle with pancreatic cancer. In 1982, Shirley met and married Vernal Carl Bingham. Their marriage was later solemnized in the LDS Jordan River Temple. They have been married for forty years.
Shirley has worked a variety of jobs including receptionist, freight dispatcher, and payroll clerk for freight companies. In 1983, she found her niche working for the State of Utah, first at Job Service, then at the Division of Child and Family Services, until retiring in 2012 with 29 years of service.
Shirley loved and enjoyed beautiful things. She especially loved to create beautiful things and had great talent and skill in needlework, including crochet and counted cross-stitch. She also loved to create beautiful jewelry, greeting cards, and ornaments. She was a fabulous cook and was the star of the show when cooking for family get-togethers.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Vernal Carl Bingham, her daughter Jeannie H. Walker Adair, her three grandchildren, Sterling Hunsaker (Angel Moffitt), Sajen Hunsaker, and Rachel Adair, as well as her step-son, R Scott Bingham (Amy Sillitoe), two brothers, Blaine Jackman, Russell (Monique) Jackman, and one sister, Carol Jackman DeRosier.
