Sonja Bronson

Mar 22, 1938 — Oct 16, 2026

Sonja Lee Memmott Bronson passed away peacefully on 10-16-2026. Sonja was born to Seymour Karl and Margaret Alice Talbot Memmott on March 22,1938 in Scipio, Utah, whom she spoke of often adored.

Sonja married Marvin Ray Bronson on October 11, 1956 in the Logan LDS Temple for time and all eternity. Together they raised 9 children. Sonja was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints her entire life, rarely missing a day reading her scriptures. She loved her Heavenly Father and her Savior, Jesus Christ.

Sonja loved being a wife and mother. She was an amazing cook and is famous for her wheat bread and homemade candy. She loved to sew and many of us often wore things she made for us. One year, she gave her daughters Madame Alexander dolls with a case full of outfits that matched her girls’ clothes for Christmas. Another year she made us all Christmas outfits with black velvet dresses for the girls and Nehru jackets complete with gold medallions. (You younger folks might have to look up that style…)

She was a woman who chose to be happy. Every day. No matter what was going on in her world. When you greeted her, it was with smiles, hugs, and compliments. When you said goodbye, it was more of the same. She wore dresses most days when we were young, and had her hair done weekly, sleeping on a silk pillowcase to keep her auburn curls in place. She took care of her Husband with great love. She kept us all clean, neat, fed, and got us all where we needed to be even after suffering a massive stroke when she was 36.

She was a walking miracle, having overcome many serious health concerns. She went to doctors,’ but her faith was always in God, a priesthood blessing, and her constant and implicit faith that she would receive miracles. And she did. And many of us have had the benefit of her faith and prayers.

She was a woman who laughed. She made sure we all laughed together – at cute younger siblings’ antics; at funny but innocent TV shows; at our entertaining dad. She made everything fun. She told us stories complete with song and hand actions like “Going on a Bear Hunt” or “In My Little Garden Bed.” We know there were mountains of laundry to fold and food to prepare and a house to keep clean, and we helped her a lot, for sure. But who remembers chores? We remember her gift for gardening, her happy giggling, her playing games with us and watching all of us sing or dance or draw our toy cowboy pistols against pretend bad guys.

She was a woman everyone loved. We were all lucky to love and be loved by her!

She is survived by her children: Shirley [Lloyd] Westenskow; Connie [Butch] Dailey, David [Donna] Bronson; Darin [Katherine] Bronson; Mitchell [Patricia] Bronson; Travis Bronson; and Jason [Jessica] Bronson. Siblings: Clara Neddo, Norman Memmott, Sheri [Dennis] Jeppeson; Kathy (Holger) Dzierzon, Sharon Memmott and Nancy Memmott. And many grand-and great-grandchildren.

The Kiss

How could I have known this every-morning kiss goodbye would be our last...

An ordinary moment much too soon became our past...

I don’t know what to do...

These unfamiliar duties so grievous and so new...

Then I feel the whisper of your spirit brush my brow

an angel kiss that comforts me for now...
