Stanley Clive Romney

February 6, 1951 — December 17, 2023

Stanley Clive Romney was born in Salt Lake City, Utah February 6, 1951, the 4th of 9 children. He graduated from Skyline High School in 1969 and from Utah Technical College in 1971. He is survived by his 3 children, Allison (and Derek), Brennon (and Jessica), Gavin, and 10 grandchildren, Jonathan, Joshua, Isaiah, Rebekah, Samuel, Skyler, Konnor, Lia, Miles, and Hannah; as well as his siblings, Fred (and Patricia), Eldon (and Lynda), Clive (and Bonnie), Roslyn (and Jay), RaeLynne (and Brian), and Vince (and Chriss), and brother-in-law, Theo, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Stan was born with Hemophilia A which prevented him from being able to serve in the military, so instead he and his brother, Clive, formed a band called the Augmented Fifth and entertained the troops in Vietnam and Thailand. After that adventure, Stan loved playing bass guitar and traveled all over with Clive as a back-up band for Sunshade ‘n Rain.

In 1989 Stan took a position with Baker Hughes in Houston, Texas. He was the best DJ for the stake dances, and also did DJ work at local fundraisers and other events.

His passion seemed to be photography and he became a professional-level amateur photographer taking pictures of people, scenery, flowers, and wildlife. He had a special talent for finding the beauty in everything around him. He also loved ballroom dancing (often taking 1st place in the Halloween costume contests with his good friend, Debbie); so far 2 of his grandsons are learning to love it as well! Side-note – he always made Halloween epic at our house with his sound system and scaring the teenagers out of their socks!

Stan was diagnosed with Parkinson’s years ago and his health began to decline. During the last 2.5 years of his life, he moved in with his daughter and her family as he was unable to live safely on his own. He struggled with mobility and even talking on the phone with people. Significant back-pain also caused issues for him. In November, he began a fast decline in functionality and succumbed to the effects of Parkinson’s December 17th, 2023 surrounded by his family and hospice nurse.

He loved his friends, loved his family, and loved the beauty he found all around him. He will be deeply missed but we are grateful he is reunited with his parents, his sister Ruthie, brother Mark and nephew Myles. We are certain he is dancing away with them now!

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 23, at 11 AM at the LDS chapel at 663 W 400 N Saratoga Springs, Utah.  The interment will be at the Redwood Memorial Estates cemetery at 6500 S., Redwood Road.
