Steven Edward Butcher passed away March 16, 2023 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born August 7, 1951 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Andrew Monroe and Mary Louise Cowling Butcher. He married Suzanne Sloan November 26, 1980.
Steve graduated from Granite High in May of 1969. He began work as a brakeman/switchman for Union Pacific as a young man. After years of work there, he moved jobs to Deseret Press and then met and married his wife Suzanne Sloan and had his two children.
Throughout his life he loved to play pool and won several trophies, making friends along the way and earning the nickname “Kerplunk”. He was extremely adventurous and loved to bum around on UTA. He also loved to ride his bike he called his Cadillac.
Steve is survived by his wife, Suzanne Sloan; son, Steven Jeremy; daughter, Mary Louise, son-in-law, Duke Petersen, Sr., four grandchildren and a brother, Kenny.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Raymond and Darrell; mom and dad, Andrew Monroe and Mary Louise Cowling Butcher.
